Dear Fellow Centenary p2p Rallyists

It's been a while since we crossed the finish line in Paris where some of you may have run over the toes of PY in your haste to reach civilisation and the pleasures that go with it.

Who would have thought that the five weeks of trials and tribulations which we all experienced at some stage or another during the course of that great escapade in the summer of 2007, would bring such a different perspective on life?

It was always my intention to make sure the trip was not forgotten and furthermore, since photography is how I earn my living it would have been criminal to waste such a great opportunity by failing to record it properly - those freezing mornings in the Gobi followed by hours of sweltering sun and all the time the continuous jolting of the car on rocks and the constant pressure to make it to camp that evening. All that and the changing landscapes of 12000 odd kilometres and the many friendships established en route, were the making of an eventful location shoot.

I have produced this book to commemorate the rally, the people I met, their cars and the places we passed through. My primary role as navigator on the trip meant I was taking photographs on the move, shooting what I saw as we kept up with the pace set for us. As a result, the photographs have a dynamic that would not have been achieved if I had been perched by roadsides waiting for cars to pass. I hope my pictures show what it was really like to be there, competing day in and out for five weeks.

The attached pdf is a short taster of what I captured, to give a flavour of the whole 178-page book. The finished article is quite large as coffee table books go; hard backed, approximately 300 x 380 and to be presented in a Gobi sand coloured fabric bound slip case with ‘p2p’ embossed on the front of both the book and the slip cover.

There are only 100 copies of this very special limited edition book priced at £400 each. Postage will be added at £10 special delivery to mainland UK and £12 special delivery to Europe. Please contact me for quotes to other parts of the World. Though I can’t guarantee delivery for Christmas as they are being printed in Hong Kong, I have every hope that the books will arrive at around that time.
